Tales of Iceland: Running with the Huldufólk in the Permanent Daylight
A travelogue written by Stephen Markley, published by GiveLiveExplore.
Tales of Iceland is the fast, fun, informative, and true story about my trip through Iceland with two friends in June 2012. Steve wrote the type of travel book we both wish existed before our own trip to Iceland: something funny, but educational; fast, but deep with on-the-ground insight; a little raunchy, but smart. Something that gives useful cultural and historical context while we explore new lands.
The internet has made information a commodity — travel information being no different. Honest, educational, and fun tales, on the other hand, are in short supply. We aim to fix that.
Tales of Iceland is the anti-guidebook to Iceland. Unlike guidebooks, it doesn’t suggest where you should go and what you should see. Instead it offers an honest and fun tale packed with helpful cultural context to compliment your own trip to Iceland.
Our hope is not only that this travelogue becomes the book travelers read before or during a trip to Iceland, but that it inspires more to explore and live out his or her own Tales of Iceland.
If you’re going to Iceland, dreaming of Iceland, or simply looking for a fun book to read, I hope you pick up Tales of Iceland.
